Due to a water main break, the following 25 addresses on South Jean Street, South Rogers Street, South Bryan Street, West Joy Street, and West Jed Street are under a precautionary Boil Water Advisory until 10 a.m., Saturday 8/29/2026 unless otherwise notified.

Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) requires all public water systems to issue a Boil Water Advisory when the pressure drops below 20 pound force per square inch (P.S.I.) in the water main. Water main breaks or maintenance often require the water pressure be turned off. When this happens, affected customers are on a precautionary boil water advisory until water samples with clear results are returned from the lab. Those affected should follow the instructions below:  

• Immediately after your normal water pressure is restored, run COLD water from a sink or tub until clear water flows from the faucet.
• Boil all water used for drinking, cooking, and oral hygiene for at least 2 minutes prior to consumption.
• It is not necessary to boil water for other uses.
• Affected customers with up-to-date contact information with CBU Customer Service are alerted directly through a communication platform called Everbridge. Customers update their contact information electronically.

CBU TO APPLY FOR CONSTRUCTION STORMWATER GENERAL PERMIT (CSGP) FOR COVERAGE OF THE WINSTON THOMAS SITE

The City of Bloomington Utilities Department (CBU) is filing a Notice of Intent (NOI) for CSGP coverage at the Winston Thomas site on Bloomington’s south side. The NOI will be filed with the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) ten days after this notice is posted. 

The Winston Thomas site is located at 3410 S. Walnut Street. Runoff from this site will discharge into Clear Creek.

If your water service is shut off due to delinquency, please contact our Customer Service Department to have your service restored. We will reconnect water service within one working day after receiving your request. Service will not be restored outside of regular business hours, on weekends, or holidays.
