The City of Bloomington Opens Applications for $150,000 Violence Reduction Grants

The City of Bloomington is accepting applications for its Violence Reduction Grant program, which will award $150,000 to support community-based, evidence-based efforts to prevent and reduce violence in Bloomington.

Eligible applicants include, but are not limited to, nonprofit organizations, neighborhood associations, resident councils, and faith communities that serve Bloomington neighborhoods. Applicants with proven experience in violence intervention and addressing issues related to retaliatory or youth-involved violence are particularly encouraged to apply.

During the 2025–2026 grant cycle, funding supported projects including:

  • People and Animals Learning Services (PALS) expanded EQUIPT, a trauma-informed, equine-assisted learning program for youth and families at heightened risk of involvement in the justice system.
  • STRIDE Mobile Crisis Team expanded 24/7 transportation and crisis intervention for unhoused residents, providing immediate support and safe transportation during periods of crisis.

The grants are intended to strengthen grassroots organizations focused on violence prevention and direct resources to residents and neighborhoods most affected by violence. Applications involving collaboration between two or more organizations will receive favorable consideration. Eligible organizations may apply for grants of up to $30,000.
